Waterfall Screams

At a safe distance,
He stood and watched,
The waterfall pulse
With life and energy.
The spray slipped,
Around and in,
Damp inside
Drab clothes,
Isolating him
In gray mist.

Water punished
Rock and earth,
Ripping away bits.
His body thrummed.
The wet power,
Insistent and restless,
Pushed at branches,
And tugged
His hair and clothes.
He shivered,
Still and silent
As the falls spoke
His screams.
