Journey · Love

Together – NaNoWriMo Day 8

We talk about how we shouldn’t have met
Not just because we lived thousands of miles apart,
But all the other things that should have distanced us.
You, younger, living in your world of DnD and technology
And I spent my time immersed in nature, animals and books.
I wanted more though and wandered the online world.
I didn’t expect anything lasting or deep,
Just simple entertainment and distraction.
I think your story was the same?

But somehow our paths crossed,
Traversing wires and through cyberspace,
Things you understand much better than I.
You were funny, kind, smart and interesting.
Perhaps you thought the same sort of thing about me?
It’s funny to think, I found you mysterious then.
It made me want to know you more.

I was familiar with being flirted with,
But this was a strange new feeling.
I couldn’t resist chasing you,
Not realizing catching you
Would change my life.
You face, voice, and big intense heart
Reached past my walls and touched me.
We began to travel together
A path of friendship, intimacy, love.

Our worlds increasingly overlapped
But mountains and plains and miles separated us.
As strange as finding each other was,
It made no sense to be apart.

Perhaps it was crazy of us
To overstuff all of my things and pets
Into a U-haul in February.
We were too impatient to wait for Spring,
So we not only challenged miles and mountains,
But winter storms and snowy roads.

We talk about how strange it is
For me to live here in Missouri with you
And we agree that is wonderful
That we now share our lives together.

Dance

The young boy was proud
Of his dancing as his limbs flailed,
And he giggled until his breath,
Huffed and he fell happily
To the earth.

The bush undulated,
Swirling colors like a Mexican skirt,
As the wind pushed and tugged.
It’s dance wild and carefree
Full of life.

The jellyfish flowed,
Waving it’s tentacles like ribbons
As currents twisted and pulsed.
A soft and sensuous dance
Slow drifting.

I missed NaPoWriMo Day 5 but today I got inspired as I watched the wind.
